Although Colombia has attempted to benefit from the booming medical tourism industry by attracting medical tourists boasting low prices and high quality procedures, their plan hasn’t quite reached the potential they’d hoped.
Renee-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association, commented that in order to reach their goals, the country will have to do much more to position itself as a leader in this industry. Although cost is one of the most important deciding factors to a medical tourist when choosing a destination, it is not the only factor.
