Medical Tourism Magazine spoke with the team to learn more about their healthcare services, experience with international patients, expanding medical tourism network, and vision for the future of international healthcare.

Introducing AP MED Center

Medical Tourism Magazine: Please introduce your organisation. What services do you provide, and what experience have you gained in the healthcare sector?

AP MED Center is a growing private healthcare provider located in the heart of Budapest. Our services include dermatology, internal medicine, occupational health, gynaecology, menopause care and hormonal therapies, as well as blood sampling and laboratory testing. Facial aesthetics is a key area of specialisation: our aim is to make internationally recognised, advanced treatments available in Budapest.

Our experience in healthcare has shown us that clinical expertise, personalised attention and trusted partnerships are the foundations of sustainable growth. We continually invest in developing our facilities and services, and work is already underway to establish our private hospital in another Hungarian city. The planned services include ultrasound and MRI diagnostics, cardiology and additional specialist outpatient care.

We have also established AP MED Global, our medical tourism division, which collaborates with several private healthcare providers across Hungary. This partner network enables us to provide access to a broad range of care beyond the services available at our own clinic. Clinical reliability and patient safety are our foremost considerations when selecting partners.

International Patient Experience

Medical Tourism Magazine: How many international patients do you welcome each year?

AP MED Center already welcomes international patients, particularly for aesthetic treatments, with many returning regularly. Developing a more structured international patient service is a new area of growth for us, which we are pursuing through AP MED Global.

At this stage, we prefer not to disclose annual patient numbers. Our current focus is on building on our existing experience and partner network to make our services accessible to more international patients. Strengthening our international communications and showcasing our clinical work and results are important parts of this effort.

Where International Patients Come From

Medical Tourism Magazine: Which regions or countries do your patients come from?

Our returning international patients come from countries including Austria, Slovakia and the United Kingdom. We have also welcomed patients from the United States and Australia. We are honoured that many are willing to travel considerable distances to receive treatment with us.

The Fresh Start Programme: Making a Difference Through Healthcare

Medical Tourism Magazine: Is there a patient story you would like to share in the article?

We would particularly welcome the opportunity to present our Fresh Start Programme, launched jointly by AP MED Center and AP MED Global in collaboration with our partners. The programme welcomes applications from disadvantaged women and men who, as a result of accidents, abuse, financial hardship or difficult family circumstances, cannot access medical, dental or aesthetic care that could help them make a fresh start.

We have established a foundation to support this initiative. Through the treatments we provide, we aim not only to improve participants’ health but also to help them regain confidence and move forward in their everyday lives.

One woman is currently undergoing treatment after suffering severe damage to her upper teeth as a result of abuse. She reports having lived with inflammation-related symptoms for many years. The condition of her teeth has also made it more difficult for her to find employment and maintain social relationships, and she has been subjected to hurtful comments about her appearance.

We would welcome the opportunity to show an international audience the spirit of solidarity and collaboration that exists in Hungary.

We would be pleased to share her story in the article, strictly with her consent and with full respect for her privacy and dignity.

The Future of Medical Tourism

Medical Tourism Magazine: How do you see the future of medical tourism?

We believe national borders are becoming less of a barrier to people seeking the healthcare that best meets their needs. For patients, trust is built through a combination of clinical expertise, safety, clear information and well-coordinated travel arrangements.

We believe high-quality healthcare can connect countries and communities. Achieving this requires international collaboration and careful coordination of the entire patient journey, alongside the clinical care delivered locally.

We therefore see the future of medical tourism as being shaped by a global outlook, trusted partnerships and personalised care.

What Distinguishes AP MED Center?

Medical Tourism Magazine: What distinguishes your organisation from other healthcare providers?

One of our guiding principles is to ensure that every patient receives attentive, personalised care and feels comfortable and safe at our clinic. We believe it is essential to take the time to listen, understand each patient’s needs and clearly explain the options available to them.

We combine this personal approach with continuous professional development. Our clinical leadership regularly attends international conferences and training programmes to keep abreast of emerging treatments and developments in clinical practice. When evaluating these approaches, we prioritise safety, the quality of the materials used and the longevity of results.

We believe that compassionate, personalised attention and a commitment to continuous improvement together define the care we provide.

Services for International Patients

Medical Tourism Magazine: What services do you offer international patients travelling for medical treatment?

At our own clinic, our core services include dermatology, facial aesthetic treatments and gynaecological care. Within gynaecology, we pay particular attention to menopause-related symptoms and hormonal changes, which are managed by a specialist with expertise in this field.

Through AP MED Global’s partner network, we can coordinate a much broader range of care, from health screening and diagnostic examinations to dental treatment and more complex surgery, including orthopaedic procedures.

In every case, the choice of healthcare facility and specialist is guided by the patient’s individual needs and a preliminary medical assessment.

Available Medical Procedures and Treatments

Medical Tourism Magazine: What medical procedures and treatments are available through your organisation?

AP MED Center offers dermatological and aesthetic treatments, internal medicine and gynaecological consultations and examinations, health screening, hormonal therapies where clinically indicated, and blood sampling and laboratory testing.

We also provide occupational health services for international patients and, depending on the applicable requirements, can assist with medical examinations needed for certain certificates. Through our partner institutions, we also coordinate access to additional diagnostic services, cardiology care and surgical treatment.

We are continually expanding our services. Plans for our new facility include diagnostic imaging, regenerative treatment options and additional specialist outpatient services.

Joining Better by MTA and Building International Connections

Medical Tourism Magazine: Why do you consider Better by MTA particularly valuable to the medical tourism industry?

For us, the greatest value of Better by MTA lies in the opportunities it offers to build international connections, raise our professional profile and establish trust. In medical tourism, it is particularly important for patients and providers to be able to connect across borders and build relationships based on reliable information.

We were delighted to join this international community because we see it as an opportunity to introduce our organisation, share our approach to care and showcase the strengths of Hungary’s private healthcare sector.

We also aim to raise awareness of international collaboration opportunities within Hungary and actively contribute to the development of medical tourism.
